Rochdale
Conversion to residential apartments at former care home

Value: £1.1 million

Timescale: 34 weeks

Architect: MDA Architecture

Engineer: Marston & Grundy

Background:
Park Court is situated in a prominent location in the centre of Rochdale, directly opposite the picturesque Falinge Park. The building provided an excellent opportunity for our client to bring life back into it, following a dormant period of 3 years from when it ceased operations as a residential care home.

The Scheme:
Being set opposite the park and in close proximity to Rochdale Town centre, Park Court is a popular residential location both for young professionals and families.

Cassel & Fletcher was appointed on a Design & Build contract to undertake the conversion of the existing care home into twenty three 1 and 2-bedroom apartments. The complex conversion consisted of a complete strip-out of the existing building, partial re-roof, structural alterations and strengthening, façade treatment, window replacements and gable rebuilds. The fit-out of the apartments and communal areas provides a light and contemporary feel for the occupants.

The project location is next to an existing secondary school and residential area, which required our refurbishment works to be undertaken sympathetically whilst accommodating their requirements in regard to access and hours of working.
